As a BACP Accredited therapist, Kirsty aims to provide a therapeutic experience characterised by acceptance, genuine warmth and understanding within a safe and confidential setting. A gentle approach which pays close attention to your individual story, allowing you to explore your difficulties whilst experiencing sensitivity, respect and valuing.
Kirsty often works creatively, which can be particularly useful with younger clients, making use of a wide variety of art materials and therapeutic techniques including Sand Tray. For those who prefer not to work with creative materials, Kirsty is equally at home using traditional methods of therapy. She continues to be committed to professional academic development through studying towards a PhD at the University of South Wales, Newport.
Kirsty is also a Qualified Counselling Supervisor with an MA in Consultative Supervision from the University of South Wales, Newport. Which means she is qualified to supervise counsellors, psychotherapists and other helping professionals, of all abilities and experience. She also works creatively in supervision, particularly with sandtray, having written extensively about this approach within both academic study and the BACP Children and Young People Journal. However more traditional talking approaches to supervision are also offered. For those of you who want the theoretical detail Kirsty's approach to counselling is largely Humanistic (Person Centered, Gestalt and Existential), with the core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard very much at the foundation of her work. A lot of her creative approach is placed within a Gestalt frame although she also integrates aspects of Psychodynamic Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Theory, Solution Focused Approaches, Motivational and Psychoeducational Techniques.
As an Integrative counsellor, Kirsty uses a mixture of the above approaches in order to adapt and meet the needs of each individual client. From traditional approaches for talking therapy to more creative and artistic techniques, each client has the opportunity to explore their experience as they choose to and at their own pace.

Although offering counselling, psychotherapy, supervision and training from the Way Forward Counselling Rooms in Swan House, 146 - 147 St Helen's Road Swansea, SA1 4DE; Kirsty is open to receiving counselling, pschotherapy and supervision referrals from Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokshire, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Neath Port Talbot CBC (NPTCBC), South Wales, North Wales, Brigend, Neath Port Talbot, Ammanford, Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, Pontypool, Newport, South West England, Midlands, England. Online and Telephone Services are available to support working from a distance; some mix face to face contact with working online or on the telephone. Supervision referrals are welcome from social workers, helping professionals as well as counselling supervision, psychotherapy supervision, school based counselling supervision, play therapy supervision, supervision for counsellors working with Adults, supervision for counsellors working with children and young people.
